Our migration went so smoothly. Our project coordinator met with us on a regular basis and knew exactly what was needed. There were no surprises; it just worked.

Reason for moving to SaaS:

Eliminate downtime. “We host classes in the U.S. and Tokyo—downtime for updates is not feasible.”

Demand for newest releases. “Faculty were frustrated that we were behind in releases.”

Transition experience:

  • January 2018 – Moved to SaaS from Managed Hosting
  • January 2018 – Rolled out Collaborate and Help Desk Support

Perspective on SaaS:

“Our partnership with Blackboard has been critical to our institution as we rely so heavily on our online presence. We looked at the competition and there is no other product that could do what Blackboard can.”

“Now we are always current with releases which makes our faculty very happy. Updating to a new release as a Managed Hosting client was a big process that we’ve eliminated with SaaS.”

“Continuous deployment works for us. It’s the trend for most services, so it feels like our faculty have already been conditioned to the idea.”

“To increase retention rates with our adult students, we’re offering courses poly-synchronously whereby students can chose for each class within a course to participate face to face or online. Learn, SaaS deployment, and Collaborate are critical to the success of this approach.”
