Reason for moving to the Ultra experience:

“To attain our vision, we needed to give our users a more modern system, to eliminate system downtime, to focus on tasks beyond managing Bb, and to gain better access to our Learn data. Moving to SaaS and Ultra has given us all of these.”

Transition timeline:

  • August 2018 – Renewed Blackboard contract after thorough re-evaluation
  • December 2018 – Moved to SaaS from Managed Hosting
  • June 2019 – Turned on the Ultra Base Navigation
  • Fall 2019 – Transitioning to Ultra Course View; Online EdD program fully Ultra
  • Expected in 2020/2021 academic year – Full Ultra course rollout

Perspective on Learn Ultra:

“The support we have received from Blackboard has been tremendous. I have complete confidence that when I need help, Blackboard will be there. As a one-woman show, this kind of support is irreplaceable.”

“The reaction to the Ultra Base Navigation has been tremendously positive. We’ve gotten nothing but compliments—even from those typically slow to embrace change.”

“Having the flexibility to roll out Ultra courses on our timeline is huge. The disruption of having faculty members move all at once would have been too great to manage.”

“Those who are using the Ultra Course View are especially impressed with the cleaner interface, the ease of creating courses, and that the experience is consistent with the mobile app.”
