HERE ARE SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

1. How do I access the Blackboard Wiki Knowledge Base (BbWiki)?
The Wiki Knowledge Base is only available to clients who have a Behind the Blackboard account. The typical method to access the knowledge base is to go through http://behind.blackboard.com (BtBB). Under the Documentation heading, you will see a link the "Knowledge Base". Clicking that link will automatically log you into the BbWiki. Alternatively, you can log in directly through http://kb.blackboard.com.

2. When I log in directly through http://kb.blackboard.com or am sent a link to a knowledge base article, I am asked for a password but it's not the same as my Behind the Blackboard (BtB) password and I can't get in. What do I do?
You can log into the Btb through http://behind.blackboard.com and search for the article or you can set a password so that you can come in directly.

3. How do I set my initial password for the BbWiki?
The first time you enter the BbWiki, you have to set up your email and click on lost password. You only have to do it once and Blackboard is working on making this process easier. Each user on the system has a profile. Follow these steps:

  1. Log in using the method described above in Step 1 above. When you are logged in (by going through BtBB), you will see a welcome message under the search bar on the right of the screen.
  2. Select "Preferences" from the top right of the Wiki Page
  3. Click on the "Edit Profile" tab
  4. Add your email address
  5. Click the "Save" button and note your username (it's either "first initial + last name" or “lastname.firstname”).
  6. In the welcome message area, click on "Log out".
  7. Click the "Log in again?" link
  8. Below the "Log in" button is a link to "Forgot Password?" off to the right. Click this link.
  9. Enter your username and click the "Send it to me" button.
  10. Await a password so that you can log in.
  11. When you receive it and log in, change your password (noted below).
  12. You are in and can now get to the BbWiki directly using kb.blackboard.com and you can still get in through Behind the Blackboard
  13. The URL for the AP2 Upgrade Team site is: http://kb.blackboard.com//x/sY1s

4. How do I change my password?
When you are logged in (by going through BtB), you will see a welcome message under the search bar on the right of the screen. From here, do the following steps:

  1. Select "Preferences"
  2. Click on the "Edit Profile" tab
  3. Click on the "Password" link in the "Your Profile" section
  4. Enter your old password and then enter a new password (you have to do it twice for confirmation).
  5. Your new password is now set.

5. Why do I have a profile and what can I do with it?
You can edit and make information available about yourself through your profile. You can also create and maintain a "personal space". The instructions are relatively simple and when you go into the "create a personal space" page, it describes what it is and what can be done within it. If you have had a look at the People Directory, this is where that information gets populated. There are some great examples in there so have a look around before you decide what you want to have in your own space.
