Education technology specialists from universities and colleges across EMEA will be contributing to over 50 presentations and more than 10 workshops and training sessions, focusing on topics such as the impact of big data on education, the emergence of new teaching and learning models, and how mobile technology is providing new opportunities to access and engage in education.
Sharing innovative best practices and discussing ideas on how to improve student engagement and outcomes will be a key part of the conference. Blackboard executives will also offer information on the company’s product and solutions roadmap.
In addition to the general sessions, event keynotes will be presented by:
• Stephen Heppell – Professor and Chair in New Media Environments at the Centre for Excellence in Media Practice of Bournemouth University.
• Eamon McAteer - Curriculum Consultant for C2k, who will describe how C2k uses Blackboard Collaborate™ on small projects – school to school, and how the high profile events with NEELB.tv provide schools with virtual fieldtrips that have quality curriculum materials embedded.
• Jay Bhatt – CEO of Blackboard, will share his perspective on the new era of education and how the company is helping address industry changes in a learner-centric world.
"We’ve expanded our vision for supporting teaching and learning with a wide range of innovative solutions that meet the challenges of learners today and tomorrow," said Matthew Small, managing director and senior vice president, international at Blackboard. "This year, our conference program reflects that broader view and provides a unique opportunity for educators, technologists and industry leaders to share ideas and best practices. We are very much looking forward to a great exchange of ideas from a diverse set of participants who are all helping shape the future of education."
The conference will be preceded by two special events: the Developers Conference and the new Digital Content Forum. Covering topics relevant to developers, system administrators, and other technical experts, the Developers Conference will host sessions on using plugins, APIs, web services, and open standards with the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). The Digital Content Forum will provide an opportunity for attendees to discuss best practices around incorporating digital content into the VLE from multiple sources, including all of the major textbook publishers.
