ACE and Blackboard Expand Partnership to Prepare Emerging Campus Leaders
$700K IN-KIND GIFT FROM BLACKBOARD SUPPORTS ONLINE LEARNING FOR ACE FELLOWS
WASHINGTON, DC – March 12, 2012 – The American Council on Education (ACE) and Blackboard Inc. today announced a renewed partnership and a $700,000 in-kind gift from Blackboard to support the ACE Fellows Program, which prepares senior leaders to serve colleges and universities nationwide.
Through this gift, Blackboard makes its learning management, Web conferencing and mobile learning solutions available to the ACE Fellows Program. The technology will enable greater communication between ACE Fellows and program instructors, enable collaboration with higher education leaders around the world, and provide a central location for program logistics, assignments, resources and online discussions.
“This exposure to Blackboard technology will allow program participants—senior faculty and campus administrators—to develop their understanding of online learning tools and provide informed perspectives when considering future directions for technology on their own campuses,” said ACE Fellows Program Director Sharon A. McDade.
The ACE Fellows Program, established in 1965, is designed to strengthen institutions and leadership in American higher education by identifying and preparing emerging campus leaders for responsible positions in college and university administration. Blackboard and ACE first partnered to support the program in 2003.
“We are proud to partner with ACE to help prepare the next generation of leaders in higher education through the ACE Fellows program,” said Lara Oerter, Senior Vice President of Strategy at Blackboard. “We hope that by providing a strong technology infrastructure to support the ACE Fellows Program, it will even better prepare participants worldwide to understand the role technology can play in education and addressing the challenges faced by campuses and communities.”
Founded in 1918, ACE (www.acenet.edu) is the major coordinating body for all the nation's higher education institutions, representing more than 1,600 college and university presidents, and more than 200 related associations, nationwide. It provides leadership on key higher education issues and influences public policy through advocacy.
