CourseSites by Blackboard™ makes use of the following cookie and related technologies for the described purposes below. A cookie is a file issued from a website, Internet based application or Internet delivered content to an end user’s connected device (e.g. web browser, smartphone, etc). Cookies may be used to uniquely identify a user. They may be used to track individual preferences and other information about a web user. Blackboard products use this technology to provide secure learning experiences, track usage and manage application performance. How this product obtains end user consent for cookies
A visitor connecting to the website that hosts this product will be issued cookies that are strictly necessary for security and application performance. This product will provide the user with a dialogue box which informs the user that the cookie is being set and obtains the users consent to the cookie. After the user has reviewed the notice and accepted the cookie, the user may continue to use the software product. The user may not use the product without accepting the cookies.
First party cookies & related technologies
These cookies are used by Blackboard to measure usage of the CourseSites service. These cookies collect information in an anonymous form via the Google Analytics application, including the number of visitors to our site, pages visited, duration of visit and other demographic information. http://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/
Session id tracking
Used for session tracking. It keeps the information about the current user session so that users do not need to identify themselves repeatedly. Nobody else can identify the user using this cookie. This is used by the tomcat webserver.

Cookie consent confirmation
This cookie tells the server that the user has already given the consent for storing cookies so the user will no longer be asked for consent when logging in. It contains no user identifying data.
These cookies are used in launching the CourseSites help desk. Email data is encrypted in the cookie. These cookies automatically expire after 24 hours. User name is the first name and last name of the user as provided during CourseSites registration.

These cookies are used by the Add This service. CourseSites uses this service to facilitate sharing with social media such as twitter, facebook, etc. No personally identifying information is shared between Add This and CourseSites. The User Profile tool accessible from the “My CourseSites” tab provides information about your current privacy settings and the personal information you have provided to Blackboard. You may update or remove specific information from this tool. You may also adjust your privacy settings to indicate how you would like to be listed in the courses in which you are participating.
Requesting removal of your CourseSites account
To remove stored materials from this service contact the CourseSites support team by visiting https://coursesites.edusupportcenter.com/sims/helpcenter/common/layout/SelfHelpHome.seam?inst_name=coursesites. We may request additional identification information for purposes of verifying the request to have your account removed.
Tracking of activities & usage
This software monitors your usage as your interact with it. This information is collected and shared consistent with the privacy policies noted above. The laws governing such a disclosure vary, depending on where the server is stored and the application is being used. You are advised to consult counsel of our choice regarding applicable laws and regulations. Blackboard may attempt to limit the disclosure of this information consistent with Blackboard’s legal advice and our privacy policies.
