John Kinzer
Chief Financial Officer
John Kinzer joined Blackboard in 2001 and was named the chief financial officer in March of 2010. In his role, John oversees all of the company's financial and administrative groups, including finance, accounting, information technology, investor relations, facilities and billing operations. Prior to his appointment as chief financial officer, John served as senior vice president of finance overseeing the company's planning, forecasting, business analysis, reporting and M&A functions.
For almost 20 years, John has worked with a range of organizations from early-stage technology start-ups to a Fortune 500 company and a global public accounting firm. In those positions, he gained experience working on IPO's, M&A and all facets of the finance function. Prior to joining Blackboard he worked at an internet start-up, where he created the financial planning and analysis function. He also worked at MCI in various finance and accounting functions and began his career at Arthur Andersen & Co. where he worked on audits and consulting engagements.
John has obtained a CPA, CMA and CFM and holds a BS in Accounting from Virginia Tech University.
