Universal Edition 2.9
Blackboard announced the general availability release of the Blackboard Transaction System™- Universal Edition 2.9. Release 2.9 creates virtual parity between the UNIX and Universal Editions.
Universal Edition Release 2.9 includes:
- Support of the following UNIX Edition hardware, via IP converter:
- Door Access Readers: SA20xx, SA30xx
- Value Transfer Station (VTS)
- Account Management Center (AMC): AC3000
- Copy Readers: CR112x, CR200x, and CR3000
- Vending Readers: SP, MM, MDB, MDB2, and MDBMP
- Laundry Readers: MW9010, MW9012, LC3000, LWI3010, LWI3020
- Additional UNIX Edition Hardware Supported Includes:
- Improved Host Viewer messages that display more detail
- The ability to run multiple instances of the Door Access Monitor to run simultaneously on the same machine
- Compatibility with Oracle 9i and higher
Clients must be running version 2.7.1.4 in order to upgrade. Clients wanting to upgrade to Release 2.9 must log a ticket with Blackboard Support. Release notes are available in the Reference Center on Behind the Blackboard.
Blackboard Transaction System™ - Unix Edition Version 9.5
The Blackboard Transaction System™ - UNIX Edition Release 9.5 is now generally available. Release 9.5 includes support of the high performance HP Integrity rx2660 server. A limited number of new features and resolved issues are also included in this release.
Release 9.5 includes:
- Support of the HP Integrity rx2660 (Itanium processor) Server, utilizing the HP-UX 11iv2 operating system.
- New PostgreSQL database for the DataCard® application offers a powerful and reliable open source relational database.
- New door command allows a user to change the state of one to many doors or points at one time.
Clients must be on version 9.4 in order to upgrade. Product Release Notes can be found on Behind the Blackboard. Clients wishing to upgrade to Version 9.5 should contact their Blackboard Client Manager.
The Micros 9700 Kitchen Display System
Blackboard has announced the general availability of the MICROS 9700 Kitchen Display System (KDS). The MICROS 9700 KDS is a significantly enhanced replacement for the MICROS Video Display Unit (VDU), which is no longer available for resale from MICROS.
The KDS is part of the MICROS 9700 Hospitality Management System (HMS), and is now included in the 9700 HMS as of v3.1.
Features of the MICROS 9700 KDS include:
- Displays food orders sent to the kitchen for preparation.
- Monitors order status and speed of service.
- Provides graphical feedback to management on restaurant operations.
- Captures performance data for reporting and analysis of service times and staff efficiency.
- Kitchen displays run on MICROS POS workstations, touch screen monitors, and flat panel displays.
- Existing users of the 9700 HMS must upgrade to v3.1 to utilize the Kitchen Display System.
