What is PCI?
Tuesday, October 14, 2008 1:00 PM EST
Data security is a critical component in today's payment processing environments. As a result, proper care and consideration must be placed on the handling of sensitive payment account data wherever it is captured, transmitted, or stored, including technical, functional, policy, and procedural activities and responsibilities. Improper handling and/or storage can pose significant financial repercussions, damage to image and reputation, and revocation of the ability to accept leading credit/debit cards for payment. As a participating member of the PCI Security Standards Council and early adopter of these requirements, Blackboard is pleased to provide a background primer and advisory guide to identifying PCI data security touch points and considerations on your campus.

The Value of an Enterprise Solution
Tuesday, November 11, 2008 1:00 PM EST
Over the life of many campus card solutions they have become transparent to the effective delivery of campus services. Like water and electricity these complex systems function with incredible uptime and process millions of transactions largely behind the scene. As a result, the departments and individuals that make this happen may be underappreciated or taken for granted. They in effect find themselves left out of key decision and policy making functions of the University. Their equipment is often never replaced until it breaks, and some of this equipment may be a decade or two old! It is essential that in today's fast paced technological world equipment keeping the systems running not become an after thought. This session will offer suggestions to prevent this from happening. Through the use of examples and strategic initiatives Campus Card leaders will see what really works and will be able to better position themselves and their function in a manner that receives the appropriate recognition, funding and respect.
