As President of Blackboard North America, Mark Gruzin leads the higher education, K-12, and corporate and government businesses in the U.S. and Canada. In this role he is responsible for leading the development of Blackboard's go-to-market strategy as well as executing on the delivery of it through a tightly integrated organization. By leveraging the company’s broad portfolio of capabilities and market expertise, Mark and his team enable institutions and organizations of all types to reimagine education by putting learners and world-class technology solutions at the heart of everything they do.
Before joining Blackboard, Mark served as IBM’s Vice President, Worldwide Solutions Sales Transformation, where he had global executive leadership focus for IBM’s software portfolio from a sales strategy and business operations perspective. Prior to this, Mark served as Vice President Software for the East Region of the U.S. where he led an organization of over 2,500 professionals driving client value for IBM customers in many industries. Previously, he served as Vice President, responsible for IBM’s federal software business supporting all U.S. federal government agencies. In this role, Mark helped agencies better execute on their mission. In addition, Mark has held leadership positions in the software industry, including MRO Software where he was Vice President, Americas and Peregrine Systems, where he was responsible for the company’s U.S. federal government business. He began his professional career with Marriott Corporation where he held multiple roles of increasing responsibility in the areas of sales and marketing, and business operations.
Mark served on the board of directors for the Tech Council of Maryland, Federal Committee for Tech America (formerly International Technology Association of America) and the board of directors for the National Fragile X Foundation. He currently serves as a coach for Special Olympics.
Mark is a graduate from the University of Maryland, Smith School of Business.
