The Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) is a standardized format for public safety agencies and other institutions to exchange alert and notification data using Extensible Markup Language (XML). Blackboard Connect also allows you to import CAP data from other sources, like weather alerts, and re-broadcast it to message recipients.
While the Department of Homeland Security’s National Incident Management System (NIMS) does not certify vendor’s CAP compliance, the agency has evaluated the Blackboard Connect service’s implementation of CAP 1.2 for adherence to NIMS technical standards.
