Certifications and Browsers

Blackboard Connect™ has several certifications to help the platform run efficiently

The Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) is a standardized format for public safety agencies and other institutions to exchange alert and notification data using Extensible Markup Language (XML). The Blackboard Connect™ service is compliant with the CAP 1.2 standard, which means that you can publish messages that can be detected by a wide range of CAP-enabled devices, including:

• Networked digital signage
• Desktop alert software
• Loudspeaker, public address and intercom systems
• Sirens

Blackboard Connect also allows you to import CAP data from other sources, like weather alerts, and re-broadcast it to message recipients.

While the Department of Homeland Security’s National Incident Management System (NIMS) does not certify vendor’s CAP compliance, the agency has evaluated the Blackboard Connect service’s implementation of CAP 1.2 for adherence to NIMS technical standards.

• Chrome 20 and higher
• Firefox 13 and higher
• Safari 5 and higher (OS X, Windows and iOS 4 and 5)
