About Cookies

This product is not a web application and does not use cookies. It does use web pages as part of the user workflow to join a session. The application also contains an embedded web browser for shared browsing (WebTour). Any cookies stored due to sites visited during a WebTour are the responsibility of the visited site, and should be covered by the privacy policy of that site.

Blackboard Collaborate Launcher instructions This application stores the state of whether the user has had instructions displayed in a pop-up for downloading a Launcher utility that is required for certain versions of client-side operating systems, so that the pop-up is not unnecessarily displayed after the utility has been downloaded. Might be disclosed if you do not log out of the terminal. No privacy concern. Remove “com.blackboard.collaborate.launcherPopup” entry from localstorage in browser.
Persistent layout information This application stores the screen location of various windows, and other configurable layout options Might be disclosed if you do not log out of the terminal. No privacy concern. Remove Collaborate.preferences
Saved device preferences This application stores the audio and video device selections so they can be automatically selected in the next session. This includes the devices and settings for them like volume level, frame rate, etc. Might be disclosed if you do not log out of the terminal. No privacy concern. Remove Collaborate.preferences
Saved connection information This application stores information about which proxy to use to connect to a class, as well as the selected data rate and last IP address used. Might be disclosed if you do not log out of the terminal. The last IP address and proxy might give out information about previous location on a laptop or other device expected to connect in a variety of locations Remove Collaborate.preferences
Hot key preferences This application has configurable hot keys for certain functions that may be bound to specific key sequences. Might be disclosed if you do not log out of the terminal. No privacy concern. Remove Collaborate.preferences
License info This application stores the last version of the application to which the user has agreed to the participation agreement. Might be disclosed if you do not log out of the terminal. No privacy concern. Remove Collaborate.preferences
Last load folder This application stores the last folder that a whiteboard was loaded from to use as the start point for a subsequent load. Might be disclosed if you do not log out of the terminal. Might reveal something about previous activity. Remove Collaborate.preferences

Error reporting information This application stores a machine specific ID, and optional email address, and submission policy choice for submitting error reporting data.
Email address is optional, and submission of error reports requires the user to agree to send the report and select a policy for future reports (never send, always send, or always ask)
Might be disclosed if you do not log out of the terminal, possibly revealing your email address. If error reports are being sent, email and ID are sent to Blackboard as part of the error report. Remove ExTRA.properties
User profile data This application may store user profile data such as name, image, address, email, phone numbers, etc. as part of a user-supplied profile. Might be disclosed if you do not log out of the terminal. May be sent to other participants in meetings/classroom sessions you participate in depending on the moderators chosen profile sharing mode. Remove My Profile.xml or open the profile editor in the application preferences to clear the fields.

Tracking of Activities and Usage

This software tracks participants joining and leaving classroom sessions, including the display name in the session, and the IP address of the connecting terminal. This information is collected and shared consistent with the privacy policies noted above.   The laws governing such a disclosure vary, depending on where the server is stored and the application is being used. You are advised to consult counsel of our choice regarding applicable laws and regulations. Blackboard may attempt to limit the disclosure of this information consistent with Blackboard’s legal advice and our privacy policies.
