Jim Hermens
General Manager, Blackboard Analytics
Jim Hermens serves as the General Manager of Blackboard Analytics. In this capacity, he manages the product strategy, direction and vision for the Blackboard Analytics Platform. Most recently, Jim was Vice President of Product Management at Spectrum K-12 School Solutions, a leading provider of comprehensive management solutions for special populations in K-12 education based in Towson, Maryland. Earlier, Jim spent 5 years at Blackboard in varied roles including serving as Senior Vice President, Global Services, and General Manager of the Blackboard Transaction Systems division.
Prior to Blackboard, Jim served as a Managing Director with Hollinger Digital, the venture capital arm of Sun Times Media Group (formerly Hollinger International), and with Laureate Education (formerly Sylvan Learning Systems). At Laureate, he held the role of Vice President, Operations for Laureate International Universities, implementing emerging educational and business strategies among the company’s initial university network of institutions in Latin America and Europe.
Jim holds a bachelor’s degree with honors from Princeton University and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School. An Air Force and Desert Storm war veteran, he also served as a White House military social aide for Presidents Bush (41) and Clinton.
