Colleges and Universities of Varying Sizes, Affiliations and Specialties Select the Blackboard Outcomes System
Large, Small, Public and Private Colleges as Well as an Entire State-Wide System Select Blackboard's Flexible Solution and Supporting ServicesWASHINGTON, DC, Jun 28, 2007 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX News Network) -- Colleges and universities today face increasing pressure around
implementing accountability and assessment practices on campus.
Institutions spanning a diverse cross-section of higher education are
leveraging the Blackboard (NASDAQ: BBBB) Outcomes System(TM) to make
evidence-based decisions that guide measurable improvement,
streamline assessment and accreditation processes, and increase
student engagement. The following institutions have licensed the
Blackboard Outcomes System since it was introduced this
January:
-- Centenary College (NJ): a liberal arts college in Northwest New
Jersey, serving 2,600 students split between full-time traditional
undergraduate students and adult accelerated and professional programs;
-- Seton Hall University (NJ): a private, Catholic institution located
just outside New York City serving more than 10,000 students across eight
schools and 60 majors;
-- Shaw University (NC): the first historically black college of the
South, a private, liberal arts university affiliated with the Baptist
Church serving 2,600 students;
-- University of Texas at Brownsville (TX): a large state school located
on the border of Southern Texas and Mexico, the fasting growing college in
the 15-campus University of Texas System, serving more than 12,000
students;
-- The Mississippi Community College System (MS): a state-wide system of
15 community colleges located across the state and the Mississippi Virtual
Community College, serving more than 65,000 students.
"As we developed the Blackboard Outcomes System, we invested a lot of
time learning from our client community and experts in the field how
assessment and accountability processes are different for each
professor, department and school," said Peter Segall, President North
American Higher Education at Blackboard. "It is exciting that this
diverse group of institutions has partnered with Blackboard for a
solution of software and services that is comprehensive and flexible
enough to help each better fulfill their unique mission and improve
their institutional effectiveness."
