Blackboard Catalyst Awards
The Blackboard Catalyst Awards honor those who push the boundaries of their educational programs and technology in order to deliver innovative and effective learning experiences in 11 categories.
The 2013 submission window has closed. Winners will be notified in May 2013.
Exemplary Course Award
The Exemplary Course Award recognizes faculty and course designers around the world who develop exciting and innovative courses that represent the very best in technology and learning. Courses are evaluated in four major areas (Course Design, Interaction & Collaboration, Assessment and Learner Support) by a peer group of Blackboard clients, a Reviewer Council, and Directors.
Innovative Development Award
This award recognizes those who give back to the community by sharing their development expertise with others. Past recipients have had meaningful contributions to the Blackboard Developers Community which enable educational innovations that would not be possible otherwise. By significantly contributing to the overall community, this award symbolizes the innovation possible with software development and extending the Blackboard platform.
Beyond the Course Award
The Beyond the Course award honors those in the Blackboard community who have made an impact at their institution through the effective and innovative use of one or more of the following modules of Blackboard Learn: Community Engagement, Content Management, or Outcomes Assessment.
Staff Development Award
The Staff Development Award honors those who use Blackboard solutions to support and enhance faculty and staff development skills that provide a better organization-wide learning experience. This focus on professional development is a great approach institutions and schools can take and push with their online learning programs to the next level and improve the knowledge of their staff.
Hall of Fame Award
The Blackboard Collaborate award honors educators around the world who have shown exemplary innovation and creativity in their use of the Blackboard Collaborate platform for either academic and/or administrative achievement. Examples that demonstrate this achievement include: improving student outcomes, saving significant money for an institution or program, encouraging sustainability/green initiatives, attracting and retaining new students and increasing retention rates.
Mobile Innovation Award
The Mobile Innovation awards honor those who have embraced mobility to positively impact the educational experience at their institution. The Mobile Innovation Awards recognize those who have innovatively used mobile technology inside or beyond the classroom environment. The category is broken down into two subcategories: (1) Leadership in Mobile Teaching and Learning and (2) Excellence in Mobile Application Development for Campus Services.
Communications Strategy Award
The Blackboard Connect Communications Strategy award honors those who use Blackboard Connect to support safety, security and campus engagement with effective communication strategies. Award recipients will have demonstrated results using their mass notification service and/or text messaging technology to respond to an emergency where they were able to keep the campus safe, improve the state of faculty-student communication, and/or impact student retention.
Communication Strategy Award
The Blackboard Engage Communication Strategy award honors those who use the Edline LCMS and other tools by Blackboard Engage to create one comprehensive, technological and integrated two-way communication system, resulting in a more engaged community of learners, teachers, parents and more. This in turn provides a better learning experience for students.
Comprehensive Technology Strategy Award
The Comprehensive Technology Strategy award honors those who use the Edline LCMS by Blackboard Engage, coupled with other Blackboard K-12 products, to create one comprehensive, technological, integrated and cross-platform learning system that effectively reaches the district's families and students across multiple channels.
User Adoption Strategy Award
The User Adoption Strategy Award honors those who use the Edline LCMS by Blackboard Engage to its fullest capabilities, resulting in interactive web pages and applications that all users—teachers, parents, students and the community—visit regularly and with the expectation that communications and information will be updated appropriately. This in turn provides a better learning experience for students.

- February 15, 2013: Submissions due for all categories.
